BANGALORE: Around 2,500 Ganesha idols will be distributed by Muzrai Board Chairperson and Malur MLA SN Krishnaiah Setty within BBMP limits free of cost on the occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi.Speaking to media persons, Setty said the objective of distributing the idols was to reduce the burden on the festival committees. “During the freedom movement, Balagangadhar Tilak used to unite youth by installing Ganesha idols. The custom of installing Ganesha idols continued even after country became independent. This is the reason why I have decided to distribute Ganesha idols free of cost,” he said.He plans to distribute more than 2,500 Ganesha idols in Bangalore.
