Delhi Police have arrested a cash van driver who had escaped with more than Rs 22 crore on Thursday. The police have also recovered all the money with which the man escaped.
The driver has been identified as Pardeep Kumar and is currently in police custody.
On Thursday, the driver escaped with the cash when the guard who was accompanying him stepped out of the vehicle. Delhi Police recovered the van on Thursday itself but without the cash.
The Delhi Police was put on high alert following the incident and all borders were sealed with immediate effect.
The driver committed the heist as he was reportedly unhappy with his employers over salary issues and working hours.
According to police sources, the gunman in the van told the driver that he had to go to washroom. And the moment he was dropped near a public urinal, the driver drove away with the van.
The driver then took the van to an abandoned warehouse near Okhla vegetable market, and kept the cash boxes there. He also reportedly took out Rs 11,000 from the case and bought clothes for himself.
