Delhi: Man jumps in front of metro at Shahdra station, dies
The incident took place at around 3 PM when the man jumped before a metro train which was nearing the platform.

New Delhi: A 40-year-old man allegedly committed suicide by jumping in front of a metro train at Shahdara station in East Delhi on Wednesday, police said.

The incident took place at around 3 PM when the man jumped before a Rithala-bound metro train which was nearing the platform.

"Although we have not recovered any document establishing his identity from his possession, the word 'Kailash' was tattooed on his right hand. No suicide note has been found. We have moved the body to mortuary and efforts are being made to establish his identity," said a senior police official.

According to Metro officials, train movement on Shahdara-Rithala line was affected for around 20 minutes after the incident Police have recovered the CCTV footage of the station which shows that the deceased waited for around ten minutes before jumping on the track. Further investigations are underway, police said.
