New Delhi: Delhi government on Saturday announced Rs 5 lakh compensation for the family of a 19-year-old girl, who was stabbed 35 times for resisting sexual harassment.
Delhi Home Minister Satyender Jain has also written to the police chief BS Bassi asking for a detailed report in the incident in two days.
Earlier in the day, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal blamed Prime Minister Narendra Modi saying that he must spare time to assess law and order in Delhi, as Delhi police comes under his jurisdiction.
"The law and order situation has worsen in Delhi. Delhi Police has no control of government. Delhi Police comes under Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He should give time to discuss the law and order," Kejriwal said.
Meanwhile, Delhi BJP chief Satish Upadhyay defended the police and said, "The Delhi police has arrested two people responsibe for this crime. They have followed all procedures and done their job."
A 19-year-old girl was stabbed to death allegedly by two brothers after she had protested their verbally abusing her, when she was returning home from a market in central Delhi.
