Delhi blasts: Court rejects terror suspect's bail plea
Abdul Rehman approached a city court on Monday seeking bail.

New Delhi: A trial court dismissed the bail plea of Abdur Rehman, the caretaker of the house where the encounter with terror suspects took place last week. He was arrested on Sunday from south Delhi's Jamia Nagar area for his alleged involvement in the five blasts on September 13 that killed 24 people and injured over 100.

Rehman is also the father of terror suspect Zia-ur-Rehman. He's accused of forgery and cheating while helping organise accommodation for the suspected terrorists and has been sent to 14-day judicial custody on Sunday. He was the caretaker of the L-18 Batla House premises where suspected terrorists Atif and Sajid were gunned down by the Delhi Police on Friday.

Abdul Rehman approached a city court on Monday seeking bail.

However, Rehman's bail plea could not be heard on Monday as his lawyer withdrew his vakalatnama, a document by which the party authorises an advocate to represent them.

"I am withdrawing the vakalatnama in the interest of nation," Advocate Santosh Kumar Suman had said in his application.

Link Metropolitan Magistrate Sudesh Kumar allowed the advocate's plea and posted the matter for hearing on Wednesday.
