Delhi Assembly polls: No end to Ambedkar Nagar's water crisis

New Delhi: In the run-up to the Delhi Assembly elections IBN7's campaign 'New Delhi Banao' continues to raise awareness among the people about the state of affairs in their city. IBN7 went to Ambedkar Nagar which is one of the colonies of Delhi where there is a severe water crisis. Tube wells is the area have gone dry and Jal Board pipelines are failed to fulfill the requirement of the residents.

People have been forced to use water tankers to tide over the water crisis. The problem is so acute that women spend several hours every day in storing drinking water.

The reality is a major part of Ambedkar Nagar does not have Jal Board pipelines. The board has installed tube wells in the area which have gone dry now. There is heavy rush on the the tube wells which are still working and there is always a long queue. There are frequent fights among the residents over water.

Ambedkar Nagar MLA Chaudhary Prem Singh confirmed that the area lacks supply of drinking water. The local musclemen and people who have influence use their power to get water at regular intervals but others are left to fend for themselves.
