Los Angeles: Three-time Grand Slam champion Lindsay Davenport is expecting, her agent announced.
The 30-year-old Californian, who owns US and Australian Open crowns plus a Wimbledon title, has withdrawn from the season's first major, which starts on January 15 in Melbourne.
Her agent gave few details as he revealed that Davenport and her husband of three years, Jonathan Leach, are expecting.
Davenport, winner of 51 career titles and the 1996 Olympic gold, last played in September in Beijing, losing the quarter-finals of the China Open to Amelie Mauresmo.
Dogged by injures during her last few seasons, Davenport has openly considered retirement lately, repeatedly expressing the desire to begin a family.
