Ahmedabad: Centered closer to Gujarat more than before, the weakened tropical cyclone 'Phet', could cause heavy rains in Saurasthra and Kutch regions, besides showers in all districts of the state.
Phet is centred 800 km west-north west of Naliya in Kutch district of Gujarat against a distance of 950 km a day ago, Indian Meteorological Department said.
The cyclone would weaken further and begin to move east-north eastwards and is likely to cross Pakistan coast by tomorrow forenoon, they added.
As a result, heavy rains could occur in many districts of Saurasthra and Kutch, while light rains would occur in all districts of the state and in Daman, Dadra Nagar Haveli, weatherman has forecast.
Gujarat's coastal districts are on alert as Phet is likely to move north-eastwards towards Pakistan and cause rains in the state.
