THIRUVANANATHAPURAM: After nearly half an year into power, the UDF will finally formalise the sharing of Boards and Corporations at a crucial meet here on Wednesday. While the lion’s share of the pool will go to dominant partner Congress, the Muslim League and the Kerala Congress (M) will follow suit, leaving only a few unimportant slots with minor partners. The meet, which is the first one scheduled after the demise of Food and Civil Supplies Minister and Kerala Congress leader T M Jacob, will also discuss the political scenario and the upcoming Piravom Assembly segment bypoll. On the basis of the strength of MLAs of the UDF partners, the Congress will get 40 posts, followed by the IUML with 20 and the Kerala Congress (M) getting 10.According to reliable sources, the Congress is keen to have its nominees in important corporations and boards like KTDC, though the Muslim League is also keen on getting its due share. Out of the 10 posts allotted to the Kerala Congress led by K M Mani, which has the factions of P J Joseph and P C George in it now, apart from the State Housing Board for which the group has already nominated its chairman, the remaining notable ones are only the Kerala State Financial Enterprises (KSFE), Meat Products of India (MPI) and Kerala Feeds Ltd. Poultry Development Corporation, Thrissur Sitaram Mills, Travancore Cements etc., are among the other corporations/boards allotted to KC(M). Socialist Janata (Democratic), which has two members including the Agriculture Minister, is clamouring for seven slots, though the Congress is unwilling to accept this. The minor partner is also insisting on stewardship of plum organisations like Plantation Corporation of Kerala, Oil Palm India Ltd and Farming Corporation of Kerala.
