Inspector-General of Police (Crime Branch CID) B Sandhya has started investigation into the death of the Bihari youth, Satnam Singh. The IG visited the Mental Health Centre, Peroorkkada, on Tuesday and took the statements of the superintendent and the staff who were on duty at the time when Satnam Singh was found lying at a cell of the centre where he was housed with another inmate. She will visit the Kollam District Jail on Wednesday from where Satnam Singh was brought to the Mental Health Centre on August 2. The Crime Branch investigation was ordered on Monday on the basis of reports that Satnam Singh’s death was unnatural. The report of the autopsy, performed on Monday, will be available on Wednesday. Meanwhile, the body of Satnam Singh was flown to his native place Gaya in Bihar on Tuesday. The relatives of Satnam Singh had demanded a CBI inquiry into the incident.
