Cops retrieve occupied land in record time

TIRUCHY: In a record of sorts, the city police recovered a plot from a land grabber and handed it over to the real owner here on Monday.K Gowthaman of Ponnappanadar Colony in Nagercoil submitted a petition at the special redress camp on land grabbing, conducted by Commissioner of Police E Ma Masanamuthu, saying that the 9,000-sq ft land belonging to his family at Rajiv Gandhi Nagar in E Pudhur, Tiruchy, was occupied by T K Soundar, who refused to vacate the land. The encroacher had reportedly flexed his political clout by claiming that he was a relative of Deputy Mayor M Anbalagan.The Police Commissioner found the complaint to be genuine and directed the police to recover the land. The police personnel immediately swung into action, recovered the land and handed it over to Gowthaman.
