New Delhi: Delhi Police reached Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s residence on Friday evening to question him over the alleged assault on Chief Secretary Anshu Prakash in February. Cops had sent a notice to the CM on Wednesday, informing him that he would be questioned on Friday.
Bibhav Kumar, Kejriwal’s private secretary, has already been questioned in connection with the case. Delhi Chief Secretary Anshu Prakash in February registered a complaint against two ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLAs. Prakash alleged that at a meeting at Chief CM Kejriwal’s residence, two ruling party MLAs, Ajay Dutt and Prakash Jharwal, had physically assaulted him.
The Chief Minister’s office immediately denied the allegations and said the physical altercation never took place. “Delhi CM office strongly denies allegations by the Chief Secretary. There was no incident of assault or attempted assault by any AAP MLAs,” a statement from Kejriwal’s office had said.
Meanwhile, AAP has condemned the Police’s move to question the CM. AAP spokesperson and MLA Saurabh Bhardwaj blamed PM Narendra Modi for 'harassing' the Delhi CM. "This is being done at Modi Ji’s behest. He conducted CBI raids and police raids on Arvind Kejriwal but found nothing,” he said.
“Modi got fake cases filed against ministers Manish Sisodia and Satyendra Jain. He got our MLAs arrested on fake charges but none of those held up in court. One by one, all cases have been rejected by the courts. In many cases, the courts have chastised Modi’s police. Now Modi Ji is pressuring the Chief Secretary to file a false case against the CM. For the first time in the country’s history, the police is questioning a Chief Minister in a false case. It is clear that Modi Ji is using the police to harass Arvind Kejriwal," said Bhardwaj.
