Consider medical college in Perambalur

CHENNAI: The Madras High Court has directed the government to consider setting up a medical college at a place identified by the Perambalur District Collector in the financial year 2014-15 after completing all formalities. A division bench comprising Justices Elipe Dharma Rao and M Venugopal gave the direction last week while disposing of a writ petition from advocate M Palanimuthu of Saidapet.The bench observed that the direction was given taking into consideration the facts that the government had only taken a policy decision to defer the issue and not withdrawn its policy of establishing the medical college at Perambalur and also an alternative site had alredy been identified by the Collector.
