Congress to submit chargesheet to PM

BHUBANESWAR: The OPCC has decided to draw the attention of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh towards the ‘scams and large-scale irregularities’ in the implementation of the Centrally-sponsored schemes in the State during his visit to Congress Bhawan on January 3. Singh will inaugurate the Indian Science Congress (ISC) here.  A memorandum containing the chargesheet  and political situation in Odisha will be submitted to the Prime Minister by OPCC president Niranjan Patnaik. Niranjan has convened an extended executive body meeting of the party on Monday ahead of the high-profile visit. The meet is expected to discuss strategy for the ensuing panchayat polls, the political situation in the State, ‘deterioration’ in law and order situation and large-scale ‘corruption’. The meet will also thank Singh for his visit to the State and the Congress Bhawan, OPCC general secretary Arjya Kumar Gyanendra said. The visit to the Congress headquarters here will be the first-ever by the Prime Minister.  The extended executive is also expected to pass resolutions criticising the BJD on  playing politics over flood assistance released by the Centre. Alleging that the State Government has been unable to utilise the money in the Calamity Relief Fund (CRF) fully, Gyanendra questioned can the Government properly utilise ` 908 crore released by the Centre for the September floods. Senior Congress leader and Odisha in-charge Jagdish Tytler, and AICC secretaries Mirza Irshad Baig and Binay Sorake will attend the extended executive body meeting. Besides the members, the extended executive will be attended by all the special and permanent invitees, all Congress MPs, all MLAs, chiefs of State Chhatra Congress, Yuva Congress, Mahila Congress and Seva Dal, heads of different cells of the OPCC and presidents of the district Congress committees (DCCs). The Prime Minister is scheduled to stay in the Congress Bhawan for 15 minutes after inaugurating the ISC on the KIIT campus.
