Fielding two strong Lok Sabha candidates against the BJP in Uttarakhand, Congress today named Chief Minister Harish Rawat’s wife Renuka Rawat from Haridwar and senior minister Harak Singh Rawat from Pauri-Garhwal.
The Haridwar constituency is currently held by CM Harish Rawat. Renuka Rawat is taking on former chief minister and the BJP candidate Ramesh Pokriyal Nishank.
The Congress fielded a senior minister Harak Singh Rawat who is contesting against former Chief Minister Major General (retired) B C Khanduri.
Former chief minister Vijay Bahuguna’s son Saket Bahuguna is also contesting from Tehri-Garhwal on Congress ticket.
In Kumaon region, former chief minister Bhagat Singh Koshiyari is contesting on the BJP ticket from Nainital. In 2009, the Congress won all 5 Lok Sabha seats in Uttarakhand.
