CHENNAI: If you are a photography enthusiast, this could be a great opportunity to sharpen your basics. As part of its ‘Wildlife Week’ celebrations, the Department of Visual Communication at DG Vaishnav College will hold a one day workshop on wildlife photography for college students on October 14.At a press meet here on Friday, college officials said that renowned Mumbaibased photographer, Parag Bhatt, will hold a two-hour guest lecture on the nuances of wildlife photography at the college premises on October 14.His photographs, shot at the Khana and Kruger National Park in South Africa, will be discussed at length and techniques used in handling the camera would be explained to the students.The event is open to students from all city colleges. The college’s Principal S Narasimhan, in a statement, said that wildlife photography integrates adventures and imagination and hence it was the idea of the college to bring in an expert to talk with the students. This apart, the college would also hold its second edition of the Junior Film Maker Short film Competition between October 10 and 12. Officials said that over 250 entries from across the country have been received for the event and the shortlisted films would be screened during the mentioned days at PVR Cinemas between 8am and 11am. The top five films in the competition would be selected by Director Bhagyaraj after the screening.Also, the college is on the verge of signing a Memorandum of Understanding with Director Vasanth, who would conduct four workshops in a year for the students in the Department.This, the officials said, will be a first-of-its-kind MoU in the city where a highly successful director would directly interact with the students for long periods.
