JEYPORE: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik dedicated animal mobile health units to KBK districts here on Sunday. Inaugurating the lone animal husbandry development programme, Naveen said that the mobile health units would cover about 40 blocks in Koraput, Balangir and Kalahandi districts.The State Government is firm on implementation of Vision 2020 for development of animal husbandry sector in the State. It aims at generating about 5 lakh manpower every year to ensure better socio-economic conditions of the farmers. From now, health camps for cattle will be conducted at every panchayat of the State, he added.Hoping for self-sufficiency in cattle feed and dairy production, Naveen said the farmers would be able to reach the target of 10 lakh tonne milk production per annum and a lakh hectares of grassland for cattle feed, in the next few years. The project was initiated in 2010. The Chief Minister later flagged off four mobile health units for Koraput district. Land records and other benefits were also distributed among the farmers. Among others, Minister Ramesh Majhi, Jeypore MLA Rabi Narayan Nanda, Koraput MP Jayaram Pangi, Principal Secretary (Animal Husbandry) S. Sahu, Collector SR Yadava were present.Elaborate security arrangements were made with about 3,000 police personnel deployed at vantage points in the wake of Maoist threats. District administration sources said that there was no untoward incident and the meeting went off peacefully.
