Childrens wish is their command

For 57 children, affected with HIV, cancer, haemophilia and other incurable diseases, Sunday was a different day in their life.  The kids, who do not get ample opportunity to come out and see the world outside, assembled here as part of a get together programme organised by Make-A-Wish Foundation, India, a charity organisation specialising in granting the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions.

The children were extremely happy and the air around was filled with ecstasy as they were presented gifts by the organisers, at the function held at Joy Palace Hotel. It was a congregation of kids, who suffer from incurable diseases, from across the state.

When a violin was presented to Reshma R, a sixth standard student from Palakkad, she broke into tears as it was her long cherished dream to touch a violin.

The programme was organised with an aim to help communities, families and children overcome the challenges of their conditions with renewed spirits, said the organisers.  Coordinated by cine-TV actress Seema G Nair, around 15 Malayalam film and TV artists, including Kailash, Malini, Aju Vargherse, Bhagath Manual and film director Siddique took part in the function and interacted with the children on the occasion.

“By making wishes, we push ourselves to reach beyond what seems possible. Let us now hope that this would make these kids even stronger in their fight against their malady,” said Social Welfare Minister M K Muneer after presenting gifts.

Having granted the wishes of around thousand children in the country for the past many years, the Make-A-Wish Foundation is determined to extend all possible measures to spread happiness and light among these kids, even if it is brief, said the organisers.

This is the third time that the organisation is holding the programme in the cultural capital of the state.
