New Delhi: Filmmaker Rohit Shetty's much-awaited 'Chennai Express' has kicked off in the most impressive way possible. If the paid previews collection is anything to go by, Shah Rukh Khan-Deepika Padukone starrer has been a hit with the movie buffs. In India, the film has collected Rs 6.75 crore, which is the biggest paid preview collection by any Bollywood film till date.
In UK too, the film received an unprecedented response. Even though the film had only night show previews on Thursday, it collected
£142,220, beating the record of Bollywood films 'My Name Is Khan', 'Kabhie Alvida Na Kehna', '3 Idiots' and 'Ek Tha Tiger'.
The collection was equally remarkable in Australia (A$ 38,315) and New Zealand (NZ$ 8,058).
In US, the film is expected to cross $300k on 174 screens, with one show at every theatre. The film has certainly become the biggest film opening on limited preview shows.
Trade Analyst Taran Adarsh also took to Twitter to share his opinion. "#ChennaiExpress packs a solid punch in paid previews, collects 6.75 cr nett [India]. Highest ever. Crosses #3Idiots previews: 2.7 cr," his tweet read.
With such a start good start, Rohit Shetty's film is expected to earn huge revenue over the weekend.
