Chennai: The hit number 'Why this kolaveri di?' made actor Dhanush an overnight national star. Four middle-aged men, who are apparently huge fans of the song, attempted to do a 'Dhanush' in a moving train on Wednesday and found themselves in jail.
The Railway Protection Force (RPF) arrested four persons for creating a ruckus by singing the song under the influence of alcohol and teasing female passengers at Saidapet.
On the directions of SR Gandhi, Senior Divisional Security Commissioner, Chennai Division, Southern Railway, a team led by Mambalam RPF Sub Inspector S Maharajan arrested the accused.
According to sources, S Ganesan (44) from Redhills in Tiruvallur and K Baskar (42), A Seshappa (47), G Babu (42) from Saidapet, were travelling in the first class compartment of an EMU from Nungambakkam.
They got into the first class rake with second class tickets, an official said. All four were drunk, and began to bang on the body of the train, singing the 'Kolaveri' song to mock the women across the rake. "One accused attired in 'lungi' even displayed few dance movements, depicting actor Dhanush, troubling the co-passengers," the official added.
The RPF personnel were alerted about the chaos in the train, after the EMU reached Mambalam Station. A railway source said, "The men were silent as the train waited in the station. When it started, they began their act and were caught by police." Later, the accused were sentenced to 14 days imprisonment, and were taken to Puzhal Central Prison.
Asked why the men were not charged under the eve-teasing act, a security officer said that as the women did not come forward to file formal complaints, the accused were booked only in a nuisance case.
