New Delhi: Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez made a surprise visit to Cuba on Tuesday to meet convalescing Cuban leader Fidel Castro.
"Long live Cuba! Long live Fidel!" Chavez shouted on arrival at the Havana airport.
This is Chavez's sixth visit since the long-time Cuban President fell ill in July 2006. Last week, Chavez told the Cuban leader to shed the track suit he has been wearing in the hospital and put on his trademark military fatigues, which would signal that he is back in command.
''I think it's time to put on the uniform. We want to see you back in uniform, that's an order,'' Reuters reported Chavez as saying in Caracas.
The 80-year-old Castro has been recovering from intestinal surgery at an undisclosed location, and his brother Raul has been serving as acting president.
Castro looked healthier in a pre-taped 50-minute television interview a week ago.
