TIRUCHY: Two days after Tiger Airways abruptly cancelled one Singapore-bound flight from here, around 300 passengers are still reeling under its impact. It all began in the wee hours of Wednesday when a 12.10 am flight was cancelled. It was scheduled to arrive at 11.10 pm on Tuesday but when it didn’t even after 2 am, furious passengers wanted to know what had happened but airport officials had no response. After several hours of chaos, it was officially announced that the flight had been canceled.Passengers were told that a special flight would arrive by afternoon, but it didn’t; so Wednesday’s passengers were accommodated in the regular 12.10 am flight on Thursday. But what about those who had booked their tickets for Thursday? The airways coolly shifted them to the next day. In other words, if you are booked on today’s Tiger Airways flight to Singapore, you can take it only tomorrow till the problem is settled. Predictably passengers were fuming. The only solution is to operate a special flight apart from the regular one; else the cascading effect will continue. A Tiger Airways official admitted as much and promised a special flight soon. “The first flight was cancelled due to operational reasons,” he added.
