Chandigarh: Chandigarh police have arrested the husband of the 35-year-old woman who was found dead in her house on Saturday night. The two other accused, earlier arrested in connection with the case, allege they were acting upon the victim's husband's orders.
According to police, after murdering Anuradha, her domestic help Vijay alias Nikku and his friend Ashok had taken along Sunil — a servant at her husband, Baljinder's, second house in Ropar, where they killed him.
They later smashed his face beyond recognition and dressed the dead body with Vijay's clothes. They left a mobile phone and other identity papers near Sunil’s body to make him look like Vijay.
However, constant monitoring of telephone calls by the police led to the mystery being solved.
“It is obvious that this was a well thought-out plan. They killed another person and tried to make him look like the main accused in this case,” SSP Chandigarh S S Shrivastava said.
After the police picked up the two killers, Vijay indicated to the police that Anuradha’s husband Baljinder, a well-off property dealer in Mohali, had told him to finish her off while he went to a party.
“Baljinder has another flat in the same locality. Sunil was a servant in this house,” Shrivastava added.
Anuradha's close relatives too are raising questions over Baljinder's role. They say he had relations with other women because of which Anuradha and he did not get along. Neighbours also said that Baljinder regularly visited his other house with a woman.
Vijay and Ashok have now been sent on four days remand and Baljinder is being questioned.
