HYDERABAD: In a surprise move, the Central government filed a one-page ‘short reply’ in the writ petition filed by Umesh Kumar against DGP V Dinesh Reddy. As reported earlier, the spat between the two senior IPS officers of the state found its echo in the High Court corridors with Umesh Kumar seeking a series of reliefs against the DGP. He sought an enquiry by the CBI into the case pertaining to former journalist T Sunil Reddy and also complained that the Central government has not acted on a number of complaints made by him to it.He said that the service records of the DGP were inaccurate as they did not reflect a number of property transactions of his wife and the same must be enquired into and action taken. In its response, the Central government, speaking through a under secretary Natarajan clearly washed its hands off the issue. In an affidavit that was also not strictly in accordance with the form prescribed by the High Court, the under secretary summed up the Central government’s stance and said it is for the state government to act and it has nothing to do in the spat between the two warring senior IPS officers.
