CBI to probe Kerala whistleblower's death
Kerala HC on Thursday ordered a CBI probe into the suspicious death of V Saseendran.

Thiruvanathapuram: The Kerala High Court on Thursday ordered a CBI probe into the suspicious death of V Saseendran, former company secretary of state run Malabar Cements, who was found dead along with his two young boys on January 24 inside his house at Palakkd.

Justice Thomas P Joseph passed the order while allowing the petition filed by Saseendran' wife Tina and his father Velayundhan Master.

Court observed that the case required an investigation at wider angle by an expert agency. The death of Saseendran was suspicious and there was serious ramification in the case, the court said. The injuries found in the body of Saseendran were suspicious, court said.

The state also favoured a CBI probe into the case and State Additional Director General of Prosecution P N Sukumaran informed the court that necessary notification handing over the case to CBI would be issued soon.

However, the CBI had opposed handing over the case to them on the ground that their hands were full with cases from Kerala. The Agency finds difficult to cope with the flood of cases as in 2010 itself 19 cases were referred to CBI.

Court also wanted CBI to find out whether the complaint filed before the Chief Minister regarding irregularities and corruption in Malabar Cements was withdrawn by Saseendran voluntarily or under duress.

V Saseednran (46) and his two young sons Vivek (10) and Vyas (8) were found hanging inside their house in Palakkad on Jan 24.
