BANGALORE:  Unidentified miscreants broke open the ATM of ICICI Bank on 80 Feet Road in Koramangala 5th Block and escaped with some cash. Though it is suspected that Rs 13 lakh have been stolen, the exact value is yet to be ascertained. The incident took place late on Saturday night and came to light on Sunday. The police said that there were two ATM machines in the centre and the staff had deposited Rs 13 lakh in one and Rs 8 lakh in the other machine  on Saturday evening. The same night unidentified miscreants entered the centre and made a futile attempt to break open the second machine. However, they succeeded in opening the other machine and escaped with the cash.“There was no security guard when the incident took place as guards are deployed only between 8 am and 11 pm. The miscreants switched off the main switch of the building and hence the CCTV cameras were also automatically switched off. The incident came to light when a guard turned up for work on Sunday morning. Later, the security agency’s official filed a case,” the police explained. But the exact amount of the cash stolen is yet to be ascertained as there are chances that some account holders might have withdrew money from the machine before the theft took place.Koramangala police have registered a case and are investigating.
