RAMANATHAPURAM: Nagarajan, a DMK cadre and cable link operator from Ramanathapuram, has demanded action against Sun TV chairman Kalanidhi Maran and two others - Saravanan and Kamalakannan - of Madurai, accusing them of abducting and robbing him of his equipment from his control room in 2008.Nagarajan, who was working as a cable link operator from 1998 to 2002, later gave up  the profession due to some reasons.Thereafter, he decided to set up a control room in a private building here to operate a cable TV service and applied for a licence at the head post office in 2008. Sensing this, Saravanan, a private cable TV operator from Madurai, and his associate Kamalakannan, along with 10 others, had abducted Nagarajan in a car from Ramanathapuram to Madurai on March 2, 2008.He was then taken to the Mathichiam Police Station in Madurai, where ACP Kumaravel had threatened to foist rape and ganja peddling cases on him, if he did not cooperate with them.Nagarajan also claimed that the ACP forced him to talk to Sun TV proprietor Kalanidhi Maran on his cellphone. The person on the other end had ordered Nagarajan to sign the papers given by the police, failing which he would be killed. Fearing for his life, he had signed on some papers at the station. In the meantime, a gang had robbed cable TV equipment worth `5 lakh from Nagarajan’s Ramanathapuram office.Nagarajan said he mustered courage after the new government took over and the recent raids at former Intelligence ADGP Jaffer Sait’s residences, and decided to lodge a  complaint. On Wednesday, he submitted his complaint to  Superintendent of Police Anil Kumar Giri, seeking action against Kalanidhi Maran, Saravanan, Kamala Kannan and Kumaravel, besides recovery of the equipment robbed by the gang. The SP told mediapersons that an impartial inquiry would be conducted into the complaint and suitable action taken.
