The Biju Yuva Janata Dal (BYJD) on Saturday warned unless the Centre stops its ‘anti-Odisha’ stand in the field of development of railway infrastructure, there will be mass movement in Odisha against the ‘step-motherly’ attitude.
Reduction of Rs 186 crore from the budget will hit the development of railway infrastructure in the State hard, BYJD president Sanjay Dasburma said and alleged that it is a conspiracy against Odisha. The people of the State will give a fitting reply to the Centre for this injustice to Odisha, Dasburma told a media conference here.
Dasburma alleged that even though Odisha had given a revenue of Rs 7,500 crore to the Railways in 2012-13, only Rs 723 crore was provided to the State in the Railway Budget. An all-party committee, headed by Speaker Pradip Amat, had demanded Rs 2,345 crore in the budget for development of railway infrastructure in the State, Dasburma said and added the Chief Minister had also placed a similar demand. Last year’s provision has affected industrialisation in the State as well as expansion of infrastructure to the Naxal-hit districts, he said.
BYJD spokesman Bijay Nayak, State vice-president Lopamudra Buxipatra and Bhubaneswar district president Babu Singh were present.
