Stars speak about the need of due recognition for this creative group

Several big stars came out strong, last evening, in support of Bollywood's make-up and hairstyling artistes. An awards event organised by B'Town's noted make-up artistes, Bharat and Dorris, saw the likes of Amitabh Bachchan, Hema Malini and others speaking strongly about the need of suitable recognition for those who are credited for making the stars "look good".

The gorgeous Malaika Arora Khan and husband Arbaaz were amongst the first few guests to arrive. Speaking to the media, she reminisced about her association with Bharat and Dorris over the years. As Arbaaz beamed into the camera, she said, "For my very first shoot, my make-up was done by them." Preity Zinta, who dazzled in black, added, "I wish the very best to both Bharat and Dorris."

Amitabh Bachchan was joined on the stage by Hema Malini as both of them received the Best Face for Make-up in the male and female category respectively. While Big B admitted that he was at the event because of his own make-up man who had worked with him over several years, Hema dedicated her tag of "dream girl" to those who had made her look exquisitely beautiful over the years, with the touch of their magic fingers.

Bachchan also recounted that for his film Paa, make-up artistes used to work on him for six straight hours to turn him into Auro. He said, "The look used to take six long hours to put on and two hours after that to take off. It was possible only because of my make-up artistes." Hema joked, "For all the films we have done together, (she and Big B) it was always he who got ready before me."

Boman Irani, who interestingly told the media that he used to be a professional photographer before becoming an actor, added, "We are what we are today because of our make-up artistes."
