HUBLI: The dearth of party workers haunted Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda during his visit to Hubli, while his predesessor former CM B S Yeddyurappa received a rousing welcome, here on Sunday. Both the leaders were in Hulbi to attend the later’s nephew’s marriage ceremony with Kundgol MLA S I Chikkanagowdar’s daughter which was organised at Gokul Garden on Sunday.Yeddyurppa had visited the city for the first time after his release from jail recently. After his arrival at Hubli, hundreds of party workers gathered at the airport to welcome him and later took him in an open jeep. The workers also raised slogans in favour of Yeddyurappa and bursted crackers. However, CM D V Sadanada Gowda who arrived a couple of hours later, had hardly any workers to receive him excluding Minister Basavaraj Bommai. The chief minister who seemed a bit irritant in the wake of the dearth of party workers even refused to speak to the media. “I am in the city to attend a private ceremony and would not like to speak to the media,” he said.
