Bribery: SBI official remanded

The Ernakulam CBI Special Court on Monday remanded State Bank of India official Vikas Gumbhar in judicial custody.

The accused was arrested on bribery charges by the CBI unit here and was produced before the Ernakualm CBI Special Court. Vikas Gumbhar is the chief manager (audit) of the SBI Bangalore zonal office.

Gumbhar was in Kerala to grade the SBI branches across the state. He was caught red-handed by the CBI while accepting a bribe of ` 50,000 from the manager of the SBI Chalakudy branch.

The accused had demanded the bribe for giving higher grades during the inspection of the branch office.
