Chennai: The Tamil Nadu unit of Bharatiya Janata Party has ruled out a pre-poll alliance with the AIADMK. BJP's National executive member L Ganesan said that two Prime Ministerial candidates cannot come together ahead of Lok Sabha elections that are due in 2014. Speaking to CNN-IBN he said "the AIADMK party members and supporters are saying that Jayalalithaa is their PM candidate. Ours is Narendra Modi. Two PM candidates cannot exist in the same alliance. BJP hasn't spoken to all parties in TN yet, but from what I am seeing this is what I can say."
Modi has been wooing Jayalalithaa to realize his dreams of becoming the Prime Minister in 2014. He has met her several times in the past. However, Jayalalithaa is favouring a third front over the BJP led NDA.
Commenting on the Kejriwal and Modi wave, he said "we would have won 2/3rd majority in Delhi had it not been for the AAP. The AAP has divided the votes of good people in politics. That will benefit the bad people. Kejriwal factor will only lead to instability. Some people have been talking about a Kejriwal like wave in Tamil Nadu. I would request the humble voters to not give in to this."
Reacting to the reports on Sri Lankan navy being given Indian Navy training, he said, "why is the Indian government making the same mistakes again and again? Sri Lanka asked for weapons during Vajpayee regime, he refused saying it is akin to US giving arms to Pakistan. Why doesn't the current government have this kind of maturity?"
Ganesan said that there was a nexus between the Congress and the AAP. He said, "the Congress only supported AAP to divide BJP votes but it has backfired on Congress. We are not in a hurry to form a government in Delhi, we will wait. We cannot allow someone like Kejriwal to come in TN. He is not good for TN. He opposed the Kudankulam project. He is not for development."
