BANGALORE: While the councillors and MLAs are against the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) commissioner’s decision to hand over the multi-crore scam to Bangalore Metropolitan Task Force (BMTF), on Wednesday, BMTF IGP said that if required, they will hold inquiry in other constituencies.Speaking to reporters, BMTF IGP R P Sharma, said that a FIR has been registered at BMTF on November 4, by the BBMP additional commissioner based on the Technical Vigilance Co-ordination Committee (TVCC) report. Both the FIR and the TVCC report, point out the irregularities in three constituencies: Rajarajeshwarinagar, Gandhinagar and Malleshwaram. However, during investigation, if required BMTF is free to conduct inquiry on other assembly constituencies as well.Sharma said that FIR has been filed as ‘Test case’ and BMTF is prioritising the work. “We will take up the investigation of these three constituencies first.Sharma said that the report contains details of irregularities in BBMP since 2008-09 till date. According to Sharma, 160 documents have been seized and are under examination. While the internal wing has examined 153 documents so far. There are more than 10,000 documents.Further, Sharma said that one of the main obstacles is procuring documents.“We are trying to procure all the files through direct and indirect means. It is a tough challenge but we are confident of cracking the case,” he added. When asked about whether BMTF can conduct investigation, Sharma said that BMTF was formed in 1996, and the preamble of a government order says that BMTF can investigate such cases. “Those who say that BMTF cannot investigate are inadequate in understanding the force,” he said. “Investigation is our statutory power and we will exercise,” he added.
