Bangalore: Sending a strong message to the miscreants, the Bangalore police on Thursday stormed the rendezvous of a group of kidnappers and rescued a 16-year-old boy from their custody at Malur in Kolar district.
The boy, Irfan Baig, had been abducted on Monday and the kidnappers had demanded a ransom of Rs 25 lakh for his release. But the police went in for use of force and rescued the boy after a shootout. The boy was rescued unharmed while the two abductors sustained bullet injuries in their legs.
The boy's father, Sher Ali, had earlier made the abductors agree to a ransom of Rs 5 lakh and they had asked him to come to an area called Tumkur to deliver the sum.
When Ali reached the designated location on Thursday, he was asked to come to a different spot. From there, the two abductors – Nazaruddin and Chand Pasha – directed Ali to come to Malur to pick up his son.
A police party then surrounded the place and as the kidnappers noticed the officials, they began attacking them with machete, in which four policemen were injured. Police said they fired in self-defence, in which the two abductors received bullet injuries in the legs. They have been admitted to a hospital.
The two kidnappers later told the police that they have kept the boy at Naziruddin's house and Baig was being guarded by one Nazir. Police then raided the house and rescued the boy. Police said Pasha was involved in a double-murder case in Hosur two years ago
