BJP national executive meeting deferred
First BJP executive meeting after the change of party command is postponed in the wake of Pramod Mahajan’s death.

New Delhi: The BJP national executive meeting has been postponed to May 27-28 and the venue has been shifted from Ludhiana to Delhi.

This was announced by party spokesman Prakash Javadekar here today.

The meeting was earlier scheduled to be held from May 25 to May 27 in Ludhiana in Punjab.

While the meeting scheduled earlier was for three days, it has been cut short to two days now.

The decision comes in the wake of party General Secretary Pramod Mahajan's death.

Asked for the reason behind the postponement, Javadekar merely said "convenience".

The meeting, besides Mahajan's death, is expected to discuss the country's political and economic situation, the recent Assembly elections in five states and organizational matters.

This would be the party's first national executive meeting after Rajnath Singh took over as party chief in January this year.
