Officials of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) held raids on some of the ore exporting offices and residences of owners of exporting companies in Hospet on Saturday.
The operation was in connection with investigations on massive illegal export of iron ore to foreign countries from Belekeri port in the state.
About 30 CBI officials, headed by Superintendent of Police Subramaneshawar Rao, conducted the raids on offices of S B Logistics owned by Swastik Nagaraj and K Janardhan and Tungabhadra Minerals owned by Sala Gownkar.
Y Minerals owned by Manju and Yerriswamy and SMSK Company owned by Abdul Javed were also raided by the officials, said sources who added that their residences were raided too.
The CBI seized documents, including hard discs from their offices and residence, informed the sources.
Goa Firm Raided
Panaji: A CBI team also raided offices of a mining company in Goa which was indicted in the Karnataka mining scam on Saturday.
A CBI official told reporters here that the offices and residence of mining magnate Anil Salgaokar, who operates the Salgaocar Mining Industry (SMI), were searched as part of an inter-state series of raids on the premises of 16 mining companies which are suspected of illegal mining operations in Goa and Karnataka.
“The raids were orchestrated by the Karnataka unit of the CBI which is probing illegal mining,” the official added.
