BANGALORE: Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) Commissioner M K Shankarlinge Gowda has instructed all the senior officials to work round the clock to tackle rain related woes. A release by the Palike’s commissioner states that from May to October, senior officials have been asked to work on various days throughout the week. These officials will be incharge of equipment and staffers at control rooms. They will also coordinate with BWSSB, BESCOM and police department during emergency. Officials should check if public’s complaints are addressed, the release said. WHO WORKS WHEN ■ Special Commissioner (Planning) will look into woes on Monday and Tuesday ■ Additional Commissioner (Planning) and Additional Commissioner (Admin) will be incharge on Wednesday and Thursday, and Friday and Saturday respectively ■ Forest Conservation officer will be deployed on Sundays. MAYOR LENDS EAR FOR PUBLIC PROBLEMSMayor D Venkatesh Murthy was seen at the control room in BBMP central office to ensure that officials respond to the complaints related to the rain havoc. Speaking to Express, the Mayor said, “When I don’t have any other engagements, I normally sit in the control room and listen to rain-related complaints from the people. Today, we have received complaints related to tree uprooting and water logging inside houses.” He said they have sufficient staff to tackle the problems and if necessary, the civic body will deploy more staff. Commissioner M K Shankarlinge Gowda has told senior officials to sit in all the IPP centres as well as control rooms at zonal offices. “I have told all the councillors to solve rain-related problems in their wards as soon as possible,” he said
