Bandh paralyses life in Hyderabad
According to the police the effect of the bandh was maximum in the sensitive old city area of Hyderabad.

Hyderabad: The bandh called by the All India Mujlis-e-Ittehadul

Muslimeen (AIMIM) to protest the bomb blast at the historical Mecca Masjid that left 14 people dead and more than 50 injured has affected the normal life in Hyderabad.

The blast took place on Friday afternoon when thousands of devotees had gathered inside the mosque to offer namaz.

According to the police the effect of the bandh was maximum in the sensitive old city area while shops and business establishments were closed in most parts of the city.

Police put up blockades and the old city wore a deserted look. Even vehicles were not plying and bus services has also been suspended.

Though no incidents of violence were reported till noon and people remained indoors with attendance in government offices thin.

The state government has deployed paramilitary forces, RAF and battalions of armed police to prevent any untoward incident.

However, hospitals, medical and vegetable shops were allowed to open in the old city. Security has also been strengthened at all religious places since last night.
