The Uttarakhand government will challenge in the Supreme Court against the state High Court's order of putting a stay on 10 per cent reservation in government jobs for statehood agitationists, Chief Minister Vijay Bahuguna said.
Talking to reporters in Dehradun, he said he had asked the officials to file a Special Leave Petition in this regard in the apex court. The Uttarakhand High Court on Monday stayed the state government's policy of providing 10 per cent reservation in government jobs for statehood agitationists. Bahuguna welcomed the High Court's order prohibiting all construction within 200-mt radius of rivers in the state, saying his government had taken a similar decision earlier.
The state government is determined not to allow any construction along the banks of rivers in the state after the June natural calamity, he said. The decision, however, will not apply to structures already in existence near the rivers in the state, Bahuguna said. He warned officials of stern action if they were found guilty of allowing fresh construction along the banks of rivers in the state.
