HYDERABAD: Police managed to recover 40 tola gold ornaments from an auto driver after some persons forgot to collect the bag of ornaments left in the auto. Fatima (50) of Sabja Colony in Tolichiwki boarded an auto near their house to go to Secunderabad railway station in Tuesday. Fatima was travelling along with her son and daughter to attend her brother's marriage in Nanded. In a hurry to catch the train, Fatima quickly paid the auto driver and started walking into the station. "After a while, she realised they had left a bag in the auto which contained 40 tola gold and 20 tola of silver," Gopalapuram inspector T Radhesh Murali said. Police said Fatima's husband works in the Middle East and the family had purchased gold to Nanded to sell it off to buy some land.
After Fatima noticed they forgot the bag in the auto, the family immediately approached Gopalapuram police who after talking realised they had hired the auto from Azeezbagh stand near Tolichowki. A team of police rushed to the auto stand and collected details of auto driver, Nazeer who took the family to the railway station. Police contacted the auto driver who told them he was coming back to Secunderabad station to hand over the bag to the family.As per directions of the police, Nazeer met them near Tolichowki and the property was handed over to the family at the Gopalapuram police station. Appreciating his honesty, the family gave `1,000 to Nazeer.
