BANGALORE: State BJP president K S Eshwarappa urged Minister for External Affairs S M Krishna to resign from the Union cabinet as an FIR has been filed against him by the Lokayukta police. “The Congress members demanded the resignation of then chief minister B S Yeddyurappa when his name figured in the Lokayukta report. Now, the Lokayukta special court has asked the police to file an FIR against Krishna. It is only right that he resigns,” Eshwarappa addressed reporters here on Saturday. According to Eshwarappa, the Lokayukta special court had directed that an FIR be filed against Krishna only after it found that prima facie there existed a case against him.“Even in Yeddyurappa’s case, a private complaint was given to the Governor on the basis of which he gave consent for the former CM’s prosecution when there was not even a preliminary enquiry. This case (Krishna’s) is not different. If the Congress adopts a different stance towards Krishna, it amounts to hypocrisy,” he explained. The state BJP president clarified that Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda will be in his post for the next one-and-a-half years. “Yeddyurappa will take over as chief minister the day he is acquitted of all cases. There is no doubt about it. The party’s central leadership is also of the same view,” Eshwarappa elaborated on the possibility of a change of guard.
