New Delhi: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) sources on Monday said that Army Chief General VK Singh has explained to the probe agency the actions taken by him after receiving a bribe offer, allegedly from Lt Gen Tejinder Singh. The Army Chief also assured the CBI that he will provide more evidence to establish his bribe offer claim.
The Army Chief said that he took the action by informing Raksha Mantri (Defence Minister), according to sources.
"General Singh told the CBI that he also ordered that Lt Gen Tejinder Singh should not be allowed from entering the Ministry of Defence and cancelled the Tatra deal," Sources say.
They add that the Army Chief has said he recorded the bribe offer in official files and will provide it to the CBI as evidence. General VK Singh will also give documents to show that Tatra trucks were wrongly favoured.
The CBI is examining call records of that day to check if Lt Gen Tejinder Singh spoke to Vectra Chairman Ravi Rishi or his employees before or after meeting the Army Chief.
According to sources, the questioning of BEML chief Natrajan has established discrepancies in the Tatra deal.
