In the round of 16 the Indian archer faltered against Russia's Bair Badenov.
Beijing: The Indian archery team's campaign came to an end with Mangal Singh Champia losing in the men's individual category pre-quarterfinal on Wednesday.
Champia beat Iran's Vaezi Hojjatolah 112-98 in the round of 32 with five of his arrows finding the bull's eye.
However, in the round of 16 the Indian archer faltered against Russia's Bair Badenov.
He lost the closely fought match 108-109.
Incidentally, Badenov had shot 658 -- way below Champia's
678 -- in the ranking round but when it mattered the most, it
was the Russian archer who raised his game and clinched the
issue.
The women archers had ended their campaign at the Olympics on Tuesday.
