Hyderabad: Chief Minister-baiting is back again. This time, the barracking is being led by deputy chief minister Damodara Rajanarasimha. Back-up vocals are being provided by K Jana Reddy, D L Ravindra Reddy and G Prasad Kumar. In the chorus line are former ministers J C Diwakar Reddy, Gade Venkata Reddy and Adala Prabhakar Reddy.
This band of dissenters went into a huddle in the deputy chief minister’s chambers in the Assembly Thursday to hold Kiran Kumar Reddy responsible for a whole litany of problems: the power crisis, shortage of drinking water, farmers’ woes, etc. Plus: the chief minister’s style of functioning and the ongoing talks on the Telangana issue in Delhi. Soon after the meeting, Ravindra Reddy and Venkata Reddy had an informal chat with reporters.
“The chief minister is taking unilateral decisions. He does not take our advice. The power supply situation in the villages is horrendous. The government is unable to supply power for even one hour, not even to Ganesh pandals,” Venkata Reddy said.
“The people are angry. We are unable to visit villages. If this power crisis continues for a few more days, the people will revolt. The Congress will be routed in the 2014 polls,” Ravindra Reddy, a vociferous critic of the chief minister, added.
According to Ravindra Reddy, the rebel cabal bemoaned Kiran Reddy’s lack of foresight on the power situation. Ravindra Reddy he had earlier written to AICC president Sonia Gandhi requesting her to remove Kiran Reddy from the chief minister’s post. If that was not possible, he asked to be relieved of his responsibilities as health minister.
