Gokavaram: Chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy has reiterated that ‘Indiramma Bata’, the new mass contact programme was to take the welfare schemes to the doorsteps of people but not to garner political mileage. He said the programme is meant to learn problems of the people, performance of the officials and also implementation of the government welfare schemes and development programmes personally.
As a part of the programme, the chief minister visited Gokavaram community health centre here on Saturday and interacted with the people there and enquired about the facilities available. As one of the patients at the CHC said that doctors were not available during nights, the chief minister directed that of the three doctors attached to the Centre, one should be assigned for night duty.
He asked the doctors to reside in places where they are posted. “Drop a letter to me if doctors or staff are not attending their duties, necessary action will be taken against them immediately,” he assured the patients.
Kiran Reddy announced upgrading of the bed strength at the CHC and also fill vacant posts at the earliest. He interacted with the beneficiaries and the people on implementation of various welfare and development programmes of the government. He urged people to avail the government schemes judiciously.
Earlier, he paid tributes to the statue of former prime minister Indira Gandhi. The chief minister had lunch along with general public and people’s representatives during the ‘Sahapankthi Bhojanam’ organised at Krishnunipalem. He urged elected representatives from all parties including the ministers to participate in the Indiramma Bata programme to plug loopholes in implementation of the government welfare schemes.
Later, Kiran Reddy visited a fairprice shop and an anganwadi centre apart from the worksite of Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS) at Errachervu. Following the requests made by the labourers, he assured to issue separate job cards to the newly weds of families comprising MGNREGS beneficiaries.
Later speaking to reporters, the chief minister said the government was taking steps to combat power shortage in the state. He said at present, the state is facing power shortage of 35-40 million units per day and the NTPC promised to generate an additional 700 MW to cater to the needs of the state. “Two days ago, the power consumption in the state was about 205 mu due to heavy rains but the next day, the consumption shot up to 260 mu due to hot weather conditions,” the chief minister pointed out.
Union minister of state for defence MM Pallam Raju, ministers P Sudarshan Reddy, Thota Narasimham, P Viswaroop, P Satyanarayana, MLCs Chaitanya Raju, K Durgesh, MLAs N Sesha Reddy, K Kanna Babu, PR Devi, PG Mohan and others were present.
