HYDERABAD: The Hyderabad district administration has made elaborate arrangements for the distribution of fish prasadam, which will start at 10.45 p.m. on Wednesday and continue till Sunday. Nearly 30 counters have been set up for the distribution of the ‘prasadam’ at the Exhibition Grounds in Nampally. The department of fisheries has obtained 1.60 lakh murrel fingerlings and stocked them in various fish nurseries in the city. At a review meeting, Hyderabad collector Natarajan Gulzar directed the police officials to take security measures to prevent any untoward incidents. He said that as many as 200 policemen would be deployed in and around the exhibition grounds while Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) would monitor the situation. The authorities would set up at least 10 Closed Circuit Televisions (CCTV) in various locations inside the grounds. He said that the fisheries department has set up more than 30 stalls for the supply of live murrel fishes near the queue complex. The department has already provided at least 40,000 fishes and it would provide at least 1.65 lakh fishes for the camp. The Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation would ply 160 special buses from Rajiv Gandhi International Airport at Shamshabad, Railway stations and various bus stations for the convenience of the patients. The RTC would run these services till Thursday night. The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) authorities have also deployed scores of sweepers and labourers to work round the clock to ensure sanitation inside the grounds. The Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWS&SB) would supply 3.50 lakh water packets apart from providing drinking water through water tankers. Bathini Harinath Goud, secretary of Bathini Mrigasira Karthi Fish prasadam said elaborate arrangements have been made for the annual event. “The Bathini family members will inaugurate the administering of the medicine at their home first and later it will take place at the Exhibition grounds. Patients from different parts of the country and abroad are expected to attend in the hope of finding some relief to their chronic respiratory problems,” said.The Bathini family has been distributing the ‘fish prasadam’ free of cost for the last 164 years. It claims that the secret formula for the medicine was given to their ancestor in 1845 by a saint after taking an oath from him that it would be administered free of cost.
