AIADMK man killed in Omalur

SALEM: Kalaiarasan (46), an AIADMK funtionary, was hacked to death at Kadayampatti in Omalur taluk on Tuesday. Kalaiarasan, a resident of Omalur, the former Deputy Secretary for Salem west district unit of the AIADMK, was deputed by the party to Palacode to work for local body election. After reaching his place of work, Kalaiarasan had a dispute with one Govindaraj (40) of Palacode. Later, on Monday, Kalaiarasan had came to Sandhaipet in Kadayampatti in Omalur taluk. Govindaraj, who followed him, picked a fight with Kalairasan at Sandhaipet.During the course of the altercation, Govindraj pulled out a knife and hacked Kaialaiarasan. Those present in the area were shocked and informed the Thevatipatti police. But before the cops reached Govindaraj took to his heels and Kalaiarasan died on the spot.According to Inspector Baskar Babu, preliminary investigations pointed to an illicit relationship to be the reason behind the dispute between the two.
