Mumbai: Playback singer Adnan Sami and his parents on Thursday approached the sessions court seeking anticipatory bail in the case of alleged harassment registered against him by his wife Sabah Galadari.
The sessions court will hear the trio's bail plea on Friday.
Sami's wife had two days back filed an FIR against her singer-husband and their parents accusing them of cruelty and torture.
The bail plea says the allegations levelled by Sabah are false, frivolous and vexatious. "Sabah does not even reside with Adnan but keeps filing cases against him in several courts just to malign his image," the bail plea adds.
It claims Sabah suffers from serious neurological and psychological problems including depression and emotional stress.
According to the bail plea, the complaint has been filed in the absence of evidence and material and in a predetermined manner.
After the complaint was lodged against Adnan, the police gave him 72 hours notice to arrest him, in keeping with a court directive.
Adnan had earlier moved for anticipatory bail after his wife had filed a complaint against him in January end at Oshiwara police station.
But the court did not grant him bail, saying no case was registered against him and only a non-cognizable complaint had been filed.
However, the court, in its order last month, had asked police to give Adnan 72 hours notice to arrest him in case his wife filed an FIR against him.
