CHENNAI: The city-based Oscar & Ponni Architects have won six national awards in Concrete Awards 2011. Oscar & Ponni Architects have won five awards in Architecture and one for interiors out of four hundred entries that came in for the Concrete Awards. Oscar G Concessao, Prinicipal Architect, OCI Architects said Indian architecture had a great history and was all set for an exciting period ahead. It was sure to transform India from a humble developing country to a world leader with airports, monorails, high speed corridors, mixed use developments, towers, malls and multiplexes. The awareness is very high in terms of new materials, construction technologies due to the impact of the media, internet, product exhibitions, and frequent foreign travels.Ponni, Director, Architect said the upcoming projects in chennai were currently working on a 40 Lakh square Information Technology park SEZ, several residential townships, such as affordable housing apartments, villas, row houses, hospitals, and educational campuses.
