ACB may seek Prisoner Transit warrant to quiz jailed mining baron Gali Janardhan Reddy in the cash-for-bail case.

Hyderabad: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) is likely to seek a Prisoner Transit (PT) warrant to examine jailed mining baron Gali Janardhan Reddy in the cash-for-bail case. He is currently lodged in a Karnataka jail in the Obulapuram Mining Company (OMC) case. The ACB on Monday filed a 40-page chargesheet in the cash-for-bail deal giving detailed account of the role played by each of the accused. Sources told Express that ACB has decided to examine Gali Janardhan Reddy’s role in the case. “We will file a PT warrant and take him into custody to ascertain his role,” ACB sources said.

The ACB will also be sending two teams to Karnataka to obtain details about the banks from where the money paid as bribes to judges was withdrawn. The watchdog agency is also likely to question the drivers and gunmen of Kampli MLA TH Suresh Babu and Bellary Urban MLA G Somasekhara Reddy for more information about the case -- like the places where the accused had stayed and visited.

The ACB will be filing a supplementary chargesheet naming more accused later. Monday’s chargesheet included the names of jailed judge T Pattabhirama Rao and eight others. The investigating agency named Janardhan Reddy’s relative Dasardharami Reddy, Reddy’s brother Somasekhara Reddy, Kampili MLA Suresh Babu, judge Pattabhi Rama Rao, his son Ravi Chandra, retired judge Chalapathi Rao, advocate Aditya and rowdy-sheeter Yadagiri Rao as the other accused.

Suspended CBI judge T Pattabhirama Rao was arrested by ACB officials on June 19 and charged with granting bail to illegal mining case accused Gali Janardhan Reddy in return for a certain sum of money. During interrogation, Pattabhirama Rao confessed to having committed the offence. “Pattabhirama Rao confessed that he had granted bail to Gali Janardhan Reddy after striking a deal with Gali’s aides for his share of Rs 5 crore. The money was found in the Corporation Bank lockers belong to Pattabhirama Rao and the locker keys were in the possession of his son Ravi Chandra."

Detailing the entire operation in the chargesheet, ACB said the entire deal was struck for Rs 10 crore, including payment for other intermediaries and of the entire sum, the ACB has so far managed to seize about Rs 2.74 crore from the bank lockers and family members of retired judge TV Chalapathi Rao. History-sheeter P Yadagiri, retired judge TV Chalapathi Rao, CBI judge T Pattabhi Rama Rao’s son Ravi Chandra and advocate Aditya also played key role in Gali Janardhan Reddy cash-for-bail case and the ACB officials arrested them.

ACB officials arrested Dasaratha Rami Reddy on 22 July and it was he who provided the huge bribe money. TH Suresh Babu, MLA, who also played a role in the case, was arrested on 30 July. Gali Somasekar Reddy was arrested on August 6. The ACB will file another chargesheet against suspended chief judge of city small causes court K Lakshmi Narasimha Rao, district and sessions judge D Prabhakar Rao and realtor Ravi Surya Prakash Babu soon, said ACB director general B Prasada Rao.
